Here Comes the Cake

I've kind of dropped off the face of the earth. (Too much pressure to be clever mostly makes me silent) However, I am overcoming any blogging qualms and I just wanted to document one of my recent(ish) successes.

Last year I took a few cake decorating classes and had a great time, but with this, that and all the other things, I have been unable to make very many cakes. As such, when asked to make a wedding cake for my cousin, I was a little...unsure.

However, with Sterling's help (along with Janelle, Mom Hurd, Rachel, etc) 9 batches of rice krispie treats, 5(ish) pounds of fondant, who-knows-how-much frosting, a single cake, and a few late nights...wha-lah-pretty wedding cake!

PS If anyone asks, I guess I'm open for "business"

Thanks, Clark, for taking the pictures for me.

Katie! I didn't know you do cakes! I've always wanted to learn how! It's on "my list". It is beautiful! You did such a good job!

What a BEAUTIFUL cake. You did an amazing job. I jumped from Janelle's blog to your (I love Janelle!~) In fact in your picture with your husband (her brother) you look just like her. In fact I had to do a double take. Cyndi

this sounds exactly like how I started! I always had the feeling of "I really have no idea what I am doing!" when making someone's cake.

Stick with it..it is stressful at times, but fun and creative and always inspiring!
